Kalbach Riedberg (Frankfurt am Main)

Kalbach Riedberg is a northern District of Frankfurt am Main from August 1, 1972. It includes the historic Kalbach as well as the new urban area of Riedberg. Together, the two cities form the local district of Kalbach/Riedberg . Kalbach was first mentioned by a document in 772 when Mr. Walprath gave the exact field from Caltebach to the Fulda monastery. Over the years, Kalbach’s serfs and estates were given away, pledged and bought back, and then inherited many times. The Lorsch monastery, the Lords of Konigstein, Falkenstein, and the Johanniterhaus were the other owners of the community. Kalbach was part of the County Konigstein when the Falkenstein family died in 1418.

Planning began in the 1990s for the Riedberg estate south of Kalbach. In 2000, a first development plan was made legally binding. [2] The 2006 development plan procedure was broken down into six separate procedures, which were legally binding in 2015. [3] The project will see 16,000 residents by 2020. 3,000 new jobs will also be created mainly on the University of Frankfurt am Main’s natural sciences campus. District 650 (Kalbach), was reduced by Riedberg. District 12 was renamed “Kalbach/Riedberg” after parts of Kalbach, Niederursel, and district 12 were merged with district 651 (Riedberg). Some streets were named after New Frankfurt protagonists in Riedberg’s west wing. Street names in other areas of the Riedberg were given after Nazi resistance fighters, natural scientists, and famous women.

Due to the extensive cessions of land for the industrial park “Am Martinsteiten”, and the Riedberg settlement, the dominant agricultural use in Kalbacher has been drastically reduced. It was a stronghold of Kalbacher’s district that lasted until the 1990s. Only two farms and three cows remain from the 20 former full-time farms, which also included milk production.

Eberhard IV, the last Count of Eppstein died May 25, 1535. Ludwig zu Stolberg, his nephew, was the one to inherit the county. His rule saw the Reformation being introduced in accordance with the church order of Count Wolfgang Von PfalzZweibrucken. The death of Christoph zu Stolberg’s successor, Ludwig, made the county a defunct imperial fiefdom. Daniel Brendel von Homburg, the Elector in Mainz, converted it into the Oberamt Konigstein, which now belonged to the Electorate.

After the dissolution in 1802, Kalbach was transferred to Nassau-Usingen. In the end, Kalbach was assigned to Prussia along with the administrative district Wiesbaden following the German War of 1866. Kalbach was included in Frankfurt am Main, August 1, 1972 as a result of state law from Obertaunus district. It was urban district 650 and 12 respectively. The merger of five neighbouring communities to create the Eschbachtal community had failed.
