Ginnheim ( Frankfurt am Main)

Ginnheim lies approximately two miles north of Hauptwache on a rise of terrain south of the Nidda On the one hand, the western half of the district is characterised by Rosa-Luxemburg-Strasse, which runs from south-east to north-west. As an elevated road, the city motorway connects “AS Ffm” to the Europaturm, the Deutsche Bundesbank, and the Niederursel city limits. On the other side, the S-Bahn’s S 6-7 to Friedberg rail line crosses the road in an x-shape. Most of the area west of the railway tracks is made up of forest and green areas. Of the residential areas worth mentioning are the Hohenblick settlement , built in the 1920s, and the Friedrich-Wilhelm-von-Steuben settlement, a former housing area for the American armed forces, south of Hugelstrasse. The church is located in the village’s centre, in a central position. Modern development is now located to the south and south-east, in the direction of Frankfurt city centre. Ginnheim lies with Eschersheim to the north and Dornbusch to the east. The district still includes half of this latter, which belonged to Ginnheim from 1946. The districts of Hausen, Praunheim, and the Volkspark NIDdatal are located in the west. Heddernheim borders the Nidda west of Ginnheim.

In the south, Wilhelm-Epstein-Strasse forms the border with today’s Bockenheim district, under the surface of which the former Marbach runs with pipes . The part of Bockenheim that lies between Wilhelm-Epstein-Strasse and the Autobahn 66 is often mistakenly counted as part of Ginnheim. The Europe Tower, also known as Ginnheimer Spargel , is located on the Ginnheimer Hohl. It was built in 1973 along the former course of Diebsgrundsweg. After a border inspection in 1770, a new boundary stone was laid. It had been previously disputed about the route of the border. It was all about Woog’s ditch. It was all about the Woog ditch.

The Ginnheimers claimed it, but the boundary stones were located on the opposite side of the ditch. They also rented the Woog ditch for fishing. Hanau demanded a survey and demanded that Frankfurt, the imperial capital, set new boundaries. All three authorities reached an agreement and new boundary stones were set. This ditch was the object of the dispute. Unfortunately, it was filled in during work on the Federal Garden Show 1989. It is now impossible to determine which side the boundary stone was. It was previously on the Ginnheimer’s side, but it was there before 1989.

The Hohenblick residential estate was built as part of the New Frankfurt building project. Private houses and several other homes were also constructed. Ernst May, the head of this project, settled at Ludwig-Tieck-Str. in 1923. 11 in Hohenblick, the architect Martin Elsaesser built his private villa from Hohenblick 37. The Villa May is no longer recognized as such. After the Second World War, the Friede housing estate was constructed on Hugelstrasse. In 1954/1955, the Friedrich-Wilhelm-von-Steuben settlement, 17 buildings with 268 apartments , was built on 65 hectares between Raimundstrasse and Hugelstrasse for members of the American armed forces . These apartments were again rented and the population grew sharply after the American armed forces withdrew.
